A rectangle has a length that is 3 times its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 48 cm, find the dimensions of the rectangle.

    Given:
    Length (l) = 3 times its width (w)
    Perimeter (P) = 48 cm

    Using the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle:
    P = 2l + 2w

    Plugging in the given:
    48 = 2(3w) + 2w
    48 = 6w + 2w
    48 = 8w
    w = 6 cm

    So, the width (w) is 6 cm and the length (l) is 3 times the width, which is 18 cm.
